Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Assess students’ abilities and performance in activities that are related to the curriculum and applicable to activities of daily living; identify and document student abilities and educational, developmental and functional needs with the IEP team; develop, coordinate and implement individual occupational therapy intervention plans that support the IEP goals and objectives with the IEP team.
Assist with the development of student transition plans, programs and goals; document findings, actions taken, recommendations made regarding areas of service and maintain records as required by law, Board policy, Administrative regulations and the department; schedule, plan and administer occupational therapy programs for students with physical limitations, orthopedic impairments and/or other problems for the purpose of aiding their physical rehabilitation in accordance with the IEP goals and objectives
Recommend, design, create and assist in the procurement of adaptive equipment; may train and supervise professional and technical staff; provide assistance to program staff as part of case management through consultation, training and individual and group activities; provide technical assistance to the teacher; respond to inquiries and complaints; clarify occupational therapy goals, objectives and services; provide consultation to parents, students, and teachers.
Education, training, experience:
Graduation from an Occupational Therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association AND registration by the American Occupational Therapy Association certifying clinical competence as a Registered Occupational Therapist OR a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant registered by the American Occupational Therapy Association with certification of clinical competence as a Registered Occupational Therapist.
